The Friends of Epping Forest was
formed to represent the varied interests of all sections of the
public who appreciate and use Epping Forest.
This is done in many ways but our central purpose is to ensure the
Forest is protected in accordance with the 1878 Act which required it to be a
place where... "The Natural Aspect is
Preserved".
So we campaign/consult/liaise to keep it
as... "an unenclosed open space dedicated for the Recreation and Enjoyment
of the public..." "For all
time!"... ...as Queen Victoria amusingly quipped, when she famously
visited in 1882.
Our wonderful, ancient Epping Forest has been variously
described as... "A green dagger piercing the very heart of grimy, smoky
London" "A green peninsular in a sea of grey urban development" "Big. And
very green." "Oooh! Trees!"
