Epping Forest Centenary Walk 11 September 2016

Each year, we lead an annual guided event to walk the length of the Forest. This event
and the route we follow is based on the walk established in 1978 to celebrate the
100th anniversary of the passing of the Epping Forest Act 1878. This Act, promoted by
the City of London, restored lost lands to the Forest and secured its future as a
public open space. Since then, the Conservators have managed the Forest for recreation
and its natural aspect.

Organised by the Friends of Epping Forest, with support from the Ramblers’ Association,
the Epping Forest Centenary Trust and the Corporation of London, the walk provides an
opportunity to walk the entire length of Epping Forest in a day (about 15 miles) or
take part in one or several of the local sections of the ‘long’ walk. It is very much
to celebrate how lucky we are to have Epping Forest!

Planning has begun for the walk in 2016. The walk will begin at Manor Park at 9 am
and finish at Bell Common, Epping about 4:30 pm to 5 pm. The timings and locations of
the joining points are being developed now and will be published when available.

Booking is not required... 2016 Walk date is September 11.

Forest Supper 24 November 2016

This year’s annual social event organised by the Friends of Epping Forest is to be
held on Thursday, 24 November at the Chingford Assembly Hall at 7pm. A cold platter,
dessert and coffee, with wine and soft drinks is included along with table quizzes
about the Forest and sales goods, hopefully including Forest Christmas cards...

Watch this space for future details. It is a ticket only event.
Tickets are £27 per person and will be available from June. Tables seat up to 10 people.
It’s a good opportunity to meet our guests from the Epping Forest and Commons
Committee and Officers of the Forest, along with other Friends.

Epping Forest Big Litter Pick March 4,5 and 6, 2016

Working with Epping Forest Centenary Trust, the Friends called on Forest Groups to
join in a Big Litter Pick in the Forest. Each group focused on their local area and
together we made a huge impact. It is hoped that this will continue as an annual
event, doing a great job for the Forest and bringing the Forest community of
volunteer groups together.
